Ayers House Weddings
A heritage mansion on North Terrace with a glass Conservatory, a Victorian ballroom and the Botanic Garden right across the road.
Getting married at Ayers House!?
What I’ve learned Ayers House is the venue I point city couples to when they want real heritage character without leaving the CBD. Your ceremony, canapés and reception can all happen in the one building, and with three hotels within a five minute walk, nobody needs to organise a bus at the end of the night.
Bella and Jarryd had a 2:30pm ceremony, family photos at 3:15 and a full hour for portraits from 4:15, with canapés at 6pm. The Adelaide Botanic Garden is about 50 metres across North Terrace, so leafy, green portraits are a short walk away rather than a drive, and the front veranda and the Jacaranda tree make a beautiful spot for canapés back at the house.
Their reception kicked off at 6:45pm with a grand entrance and a champagne tower, which is exactly the kind of moment this house was made for. The Conservatory is a glass house with fairy lights and its own bar, and once the sun goes down it glows.
Fun facts
Ayers House was built in 1846 as a private residence and is now in the custodianship of the National Trust.
Five spaces to choose from: the Conservatory (seats 80 to 170, ceremonies up to 150), the Ballroom (20 to 70, ceremonies up to 100), Henry’s Table (40 to 80), the Library (10 to 22) and a Marquee on the front lawn (180 to 350).
Weddings here range from 10 to 350 guests.
The Conservatory is air-conditioned, with its own entrance and bar, so it works just as well in an Adelaide heatwave.
There’s a Bridal Suite on site for getting ready.
Canapés can be served under the Jacaranda tree or on the front veranda.
It’s at 288 North Terrace, with the Botanic Garden about 50 m across the road and three CBD hotels within a five minute walk.

Bella and Jarryd married in late November with a 2:30pm ceremony, which gave us family photos and a full hour of portraits in soft afternoon light before canapés. Sunset that time of year is around 8pm, so if you want golden hour shots too, build a 15 minute break into the run sheet around 7:30pm, after your entrance and before speeches. In winter it flips, golden hour starts around 4:25pm in June, so a 2:30pm ceremony puts your portraits right in the best light.
Documentary wedding videographer, Adelaide.
I'm a wedding videographer based in Gawler. I've been doing this for 8 years now and have filmed over 200 weddings across Adelaide, the Barossa, the Hills and McLaren Vale.
When you book 22 Wedding Films, you get me. I'm the one who replies to your email, the one who turns up on the morning, and the one who finishes your film. No handing you off to someone you've never met.
I've been filming and documenting people since I was 15. I went full time about 8 years ago and I still get a kick out of it. Getting to film real people on one of the biggest days of their life is the best part of this job.
