Getting married at Howard Vineyard!?
What I've learned Howard gives you the one thing most venues don't give you, and that's time. There is usually a full two hours between the ceremony finishing and the reception starting, so while everyone is on the lawn with canapés and a glass of red, we can actually take our time. The portrait locations are ridiculous, under the oak tree the light is incredible, then it's a 50 metre walk into the vines with a backdrop to match, then just turn around and we're in the most manicured summer garden.. three completely different looks and nobody has to get in a car!

Howard Vineyard is my second most filmed venue alongside the Manor in Basket Range, behind only Longview Vineyard.
Every single wedding I have booked at Howard has fallen between October and January. Not one winter date - everyone loves the summer vibe here.
The reception is in the heritage stone barn which seats between 55 and 130 guests.
Howard is about 35 minutes from the Adelaide CBD at 53 Bald Hills Road, Nairne.
The site dates back to 1889, when Amos William Howard was running a nursery there and discovered subterranean clover growing along the creek. It changed Australian agriculture, and it is why Mount Barker has clover on its coat of arms and why the restaurant is called Clover + Stone.. which also does the most incredible food btw.

Sunset at Howard Vineyard
Sunset is the bit couples forget to plan for. Here's when the light goes, so you can build your run sheet around it.
October — 7:28pm, golden hour from 6:45pm
November — 7:57pm, golden hour from 7:10pm
December — 8:24pm, golden hour from 7:40pm
January — 8:31pm, golden hour from 7:45pm
February — 8:08pm, golden hour from 7:25pm
March — 7:33pm, golden hour from 6:50pm
April — 7:06pm before daylight saving ends, 5:57pm the weekend after
An October ceremony at 4pm puts your sunset session around 7:30pm, which usually lands right as mains are being served. Build a 15 minute break into the run sheet and you'll get the best shots of the day. Push into January and sunset is not until 8:30pm, so you could be stepping out somewhere between the speeches which is worth it, every time.
Daylight saving is the thing that catches people out. It starts on the first Sunday in October and ends on the first Sunday in April, and sunset jumps or drops a full hour overnight. If your date is the weekend either side of one of those Sundays, ask me and I'll check it for you. These times are calculated for the middle of each month.
